The sole survivor of the tragic truck accident in Melbourne’s west, which killed 399 sheep, has gone to her new home at Edgar’s Mission today! 

Molly Brown’s story has touched people all over the world and The Lost Dogs’ Home has been inundated with emails offering to adopt the small ewe. However, given the Home has worked with Edgar’s Mission in the past — Melbourne’s famous runaway goat, Calamity Jane, was adopted by the charity earlier this year — the farm was the natural choice for Molly to spend the rest of her days.

It was a scene that even the most experienced of animal rangers could not have prepared for. A truck carrying 400 sheep overturned on the Western Ring Rd overpass last Thursday evening, causing dead and injured sheep to fall onto the Princess Freeway below, into the pathway of oncoming vehicles. 

Miraculously, nobody — including the truck driver — was seriously injured during the horrific crash; though sadly, most of the sheep had to be humanely put to sleep. Of the few survivors, however, there is one sheep in particular whose story has touched the hearts of many.
